Yale Invitational

One of the clubs I joined was Science Olympiad, and this Saturday, there was a competition at Yale.  Living four hours away, it became an overnight trip because we had to arrive very early. By the time we got there on Friday, it was 10:30 PM.  Three people bunked together in my hotel room: Amulya, Catherine, and me. We all got ready for bed, but Catherine stayed up late trying to figure out some equations for her air trajectory. At first, I wanted to stay up and study, which I did for a while, but then I drifted off, knowing that it was impossible to cram.

I participated in three events: Cell Bio, Disease Detectives, and Green Generation.  Tests ran for an hour, and there were five testing blocks.  Disease Detectives ran right after Cell Bio, and they were in different buildings.  I had to rush to my next event in the frigid cold wearing just a jacket over a T-shirt.  Thankfully, there was a break before my final event.  I rested at our headquarters, fueled up on pizza, and refreshed my memory with my Envi-Sci book.  When I was taking the Green Gen test, my brain numbed up.  At one point, I felt like I was just reading the question but not comprehending it.  However, the amount of time given for each station was more than enough.  I felt fairly confident in my answers, especially with my partner's aid.  After my last test, I settled down at headquarters and joined in on the Avatar watching.

The Award Ceremonies was held at the chapel, very gorgeous and stunning.  It took a while for the tests to be graded, and I started to get antsy.  When they announced each of my events, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.  I got especially nervous when they called the places for Green Generation.  I was so confident that I would win an award.  They announced the winners starting from 6th place, and I tensed up more and more as they went up.  Each time I heard a school's name foreign to me.  I wished to myself, call me next, call me next.  When they got down to first place, I heard the name I had been wishing for get called.  My eyes wide open and excited, I jumped right out of my seat and rushed down from the balcony to receive my award.  Happiness danced inside of me because there was a little part of me that had hoped and believed that I could win.

I won first for Green Generation and fifth for Disease Detectives.

Celebrating My Sister's Birthday

Happy Birthday Rachel!
Her birthday was last month, but we're celebrating it today because she is home from college. We started off with a fancy dinner with squid, mushrooms, cucumbers, green beans, eggs, and tomatoes.

We finished our meal off with a scrumptious caramel tres leches cake.  It had 5 layers: caramelized sugar, fluffy cream, dry pound cake, cream again, and finally, creamy pound cake.
I hand-made her birthday card by sponging on different colors and then painting on glitter nail polishes to give it some extra sparkle.  My gift to her was a dark chocolate Hershey's bar and a pack of 5 Gum.

2015! Happy New Year!

It feels like just yesterday when it was the first day of 2014.  But then I remember everything that has happened between now and a year ago, and there has been a lot of memorable events.
Now that it's 2015, it's time to start making new memories, starting with the ones I made today.

I don't always write out my resolutions, but I will start this year.  It would be good for me if I have them physically on paper reminding me.

Resolutions:
Post at least once a month on this blog
Fix up my old blog, fizzypolish.blogspot.com (the pictures got deleted)
Exercise at least once a week
Follow through on my planned schedules

Day 8: The Final Grind Begins

Today honestly did not feel like a Friday because I didn't have cohort. In other exciting news, it was the last day of my Global Asia re...
